The Route des Grandes Alpes by motorcycle is one of France's most legendary riding adventures, stretching from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean Sea through the heart of the French Alps. Cover over 700 kilometres, riding many of France's highest and most famous mountain passes, including the Col de l'Iseran, Col du Galibier, and Col de la Bonette. Journey through one of the most famous motorcycle routes in Europe, taking in dramatic alpine scenery, winding roads, charming mountain villages, and unforgettable panoramic views. DAY 1 - ARRIVAL DAY - GENEVA

Your Route des Grandes Alpes Motorcycle Tour starts here! Take the day to travel to our comfortable, motorcycle friendly accommodation near Geneva airport. Here, you will be met by your motorcycle tour guide for a welcome meeting, introductions and dinner.

DAY 2 - GENEVA - BOURG SAINT MAURICE*

Departing Geneva we make our way north to Thonon-Les-Bains, historic start point for the legendary Route des Grands Alpes, on the shores of lake Geneva. Heading south we ride the scenic Col de la Colombiére, followed by the exciting Col des Aravis, ending our day with the majestic Cormet de Roselend, traversing it’s crystal blue lake. We then descend to our overnight stop, the historic mountain town of Bourg Saint Maurice.

DAY 3 - BOURG SAINT MAURICE - GUILLESTRE*

From Bourg Saint Maurice, we head back into the mountains to ride one of Europe’s highest mountain passes, the Col de l’Iseran (2770m). This action-packed day of riding also includes the tight and twisty Col du Telegraphe, the moonscape terrain of the Col du Galibier and the smooth, flowing Col d’Izoard. We complete our day riding through the Gorges du Guil before arriving at our destination of Guillestre.

DAY 4 - GUILLESTRE - MENTON*

Today we start with the fun and friendly Col de Vars then climb the iconic Col de la Cayolle (2326m). The next 70km of non-stop winding roads includes a trio of breath-taking mountain passes; the Col de Valberg, Col de Ste Anne and Col de la Couillole. We finish this mountain pass-packed day with the Col de Turini, made famous by the legendary Rallye Monte-Carlo. We overnight in the Mediterranean coastal town of Menton.

DAY 5 - REST DAY IN MENTON

Rest days are important to offer that perfect balance of ride time and relaxation, so that you can make the most of your holiday. Take some free time to explore Menton and the surrounding area, with or without your motorcycle, make the most of nearby activities or simply relax at your hotel.

DAY 6 - MENTON - EMBRUN*

Refreshed from our rest day, we begin the journey north back through the beautiful Turini Forest, then up to the barren moonscape of the super-fun Col de la Bonette (2860m) - the highest point of our Route des Grandes Alpes adventure. From here we reach the sweeping balcony road around the stunning Lac de Serre-Poncon. We end our day in the peaceful village of Embrun.

DAY 7 - EMBRUN - SAINT FRANCOIS LONGCHAMP*

Today we continue north, passing over the twisty Col de Montgenévre, into Italy for the afternoon. The day’s highlight is riding the epic Col du Mont Cenis, which brings us back into France, around the scenic, turquoise Lac du Mont Cenis. After descending to the valley, we begin our ascent of the thrilling Col de la Madeleine, stopping in the ski resort town of Saint Francois Longchamp, our evening base.

DAY 8 - SAINT FRANCOIS LONGCHAMP - GENEVA

On this penultimate day of the tour, we continue our ascent of the Col de la Madeleine, passing through cliff-side villages. We enter the Massif des Bauges National Park, it’s roads offering a fun, gentle wind-down as we head towards Lake Annecy. En route we ride several lesser-known mountain passes, including the Col du Marais before returning to Geneva.

DAY 9 - GENEVA - DEPARTURE DAY

Enjoy a final breakfast together at our motorcycle friendly accommodation near Geneva airport, then it’s time to say goodbye and until next time!
